Materials
- Worsted weight yarn: Burnt orange (160 yds)
- Size H/5.0mm crochet hook
- Polyester fiberfill stuffing
- Cinnamon stick (for stem)
- Raffia or jute twine (for tendrils)
- Yarn needle, scissors
Step-by-Step
The Pumpkin Body
- Foundation: With orange, ch 31.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each across. (30 sts)
- Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Working in BLO, sc across.
- Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Sc in next, FPdc around post of st two rows below across, ending with sc.
- Repeat Rows 2–3 until piece measures 12 inches.
- Fasten off, leaving a 24-inch tail.
Assembly
- Fold the rectangle in half lengthwise, seam the short edges together to form a tube.
- Thread the long tail through one open end, pull tight to cinch closed. Knot securely.
- Stuff firmly—overstuff slightly so the pumpkin bulges between ribs.
- Cinch the remaining open end, pull tight, knot.
- Use the remaining tail to wrap around the pumpkin from top to bottom 5–6 times, pulling tightly to create segments. Knot and hide tail.
Stem & Tendrils
- Insert a cinnamon stick into the top opening.
- Tie a few strands of raffia around the base of the stem for rustic tendrils.
Display on a mantel with mini gourds and autumn leaves for a full vintage harvest look.
