  • Worsted weight yarn: Yellow, Orange, Red, Green, Blue, Black (scrap amounts each)
  • Size H/5.0mm crochet hook
  • Mason jar (16 oz regular mouth)
  • Yarn needle, scissors

Step-by-Step

The Jar Cozy

  1. Measure your jar circumference (approx 10 inches for a standard 16 oz jar).
  2. Foundation chain: Ch enough to wrap around the jar snugly (approx 32 ch for 16 oz jar).
  3. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch and across. (31 sts)
  4. Rows 2–3: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. Switch to next color.
  5. Color sequence: Yellow (4 rows), Orange (2 rows), Red (4 rows), Green (2 rows), Blue (4 rows).
  6. Top black band: With black, work 3 rows of sc.
  7. Fasten off, seam the short edges together to form a tube.

The Crayon Tip Appliqué

  1. With black, ch 6. Sc across for 4 rows. Fasten off.
  2. With your choice of crayon color, make a triangle: ch 6, sc in 2nd ch, hdc, dc, hdc, sc. (6 sts—adjust to form a triangle tip)
  3. Sew the triangle to one end of the black rectangle.
  4. Sew the entire crayon appliqué vertically onto the jar cozy.
