Kuchi Kopi is Louise Belcher’s beloved nightlight from Bob’s Burgers. This amigurumi version captures every weird, wonderful detail of the character.
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn: Kelly Green (120 yds), White (20 yds), Black (10 yds), Dark Green (10 yds for shading)
- Size G/4.0mm crochet hook
- Polyester fiberfill stuffing
- Yarn needle, scissors
- Optional: glow-in-the-dark paint for authentic nightlight effect
Step-by-Step
The Body
- With kelly green: Magic ring, 6 sc. (6 sts)
- Increase by 6 sts per round to 30 sts.
- Work even for 12 rounds.
- Waist indent: Work a round of BLO sc to create a ridge.
- Continue for 3 more rounds.
- Decrease to close. Stuff firmly before closing.
The Head
- Magic ring, 6 sc. Increase to 24 sts. Work even for 5 rounds.
- Face shaping: Decrease one round to create a slight chin taper.
- Continue even for 3 rounds. Decrease to close. Stuff.
- Sew head to body at a slight tilt—Kuchi Kopi always looks a little off-balance.
Arms (Make 2)
- Magic ring, 6 sc. Work even for 14 rounds. Do not stuff. The arms should be wobbly and floppy.
- Sew to body sides, letting them dangle.
Face Details
- Eyes: With white, make 2 small circles (magic ring, 8 sc). Sew to face. With black, embroider small dot pupils—slightly cross-eyed for authenticity.
- Mouth: With black yarn, embroider Kuchi Kopi’s signature wavy smile—a simple up-down-up-down curved line.
- Shading: With dark green, lightly surface stitch along the bottom edge and under the chin for dimension.
Finishing
- Apply glow-in-the-dark fabric paint to the body if you want it to actually glow like the show.
- Kuchi Kopi stands about 7 inches tall. Display prominently and wait for Louise to steal it.
