Step-by-Step

The Body

  1. With gray: Magic ring, 6 sc. (6 sts)
  2. Round 2: 2 sc in each st. (12 sts)
  3. Round 3: Sc, 2 sc around. (18 sts)
  4. Rounds 4–6: Sc around.

The Nose

  1. With skin tone, magic ring, 5 sc. Fasten off, leave tail.
  2. Sew nose to the front of the gray body section. Tug slightly to make it round.

The Beard

  1. Cut 15 strands of faux fur yarn, each 3 inches long.
  2. Attach strands below the nose using a lark’s head knot through the fabric.
  3. Trim beard to desired shape—rounded, pointed, or wild and bushy.

Finishing

  1. Stuff body lightly before closing the bottom.
  2. Thread a hanging loop through the top of the hat.

Make a dozen in different hat colors—they sell out fast at holiday markets.
